Integration details

The integration between CheckWorkRights and SmartRecruiters facilitates the email-based completion of background checks and right to work checks when screening and onboarding new candidates.

It allows SmartRecruiters users to request different checks based on the job role the candidate is applying for. Checks can be requested based on a hiring process preconfigured in SmartRecruiters, or manually as needed. 

Once triggered, CheckWorkRights sends a secure link to the candidate that is used to collect employee details, declarations and evidence documents. Results and status updates, visa details and condition information is clearly shown in the employee's profile in SmartRecruiters.

When you hire someone in SmartRecruiters, CheckWorkRights collects and verifies their work rights and compliance details. Results and details are shown SmartRecruiters. 
The CWR x SmartRecruiters integration can be easily set up yourself from the Marketplace — no coding needed.
First, make sure you have an active CheckWorkRights account. Then, sign in to SmartRecruiters. Go to your avatar → Settings → Apps & Integrations → CheckWorkRights.

Review the info, then select Allow and Continue. You’ll be taken to CheckWorkRights to log in and approve the connection. After that, you’ll be sent back to your SmartRecruiters dashboard.

Next, create 'packages' of checks to use in SmartRecruiters:

  1. In CheckWorkRights, go to Admin → Integrations → SmartRecruiters.
  2. Select Add package (top right).
  3. Enter the package name, description (as you want it to appear in SmartRecruiters) and pick the checks to include.

You can create one package for all checks, separate packages for each, or a mix to match different roles.
You can define which checks are included in the packages delivered to SmartRecruiters. Some employers prefer to have one package with all the relevant checks for a specific role type, others might choose to have a single check package for each check and customise them in SmartRecruiters that way.
CheckWorkRights is designed to cover the whole of employee lifecycle. If you are using SmartRecruiters for recruitment/hiring and an additional platform for managing employee data and/or rosters, you can use CheckWorkRights to connect both systems and ensure downstream data accuracy. 

CWR offers visa holder lifecycle management tools for rostering efficiency, and Document Verification Service (DVS) can be added as a verification layer to automatically confirm Australian passports, birth certificates, and citizenship certificates against official government records. You can verify legal name and date of birth, then send that data to HR, payroll or ATS systems via API for accurate contracts and age-based compliance.
CheckWorkRights is built to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles. We are SOC 2 certified, and partnered with Nexon, a Crest-certified Australian cybersecurity firm, to run regular system and external penetration tests.
As long as you have active accounts with CWR and SmartRecruiters, there is no additional cost to implement this integration.
